TPU is Google's custom ASIC designed specifically for machine learning workloads. TPU v4 pods deliver exaflops of compute for training large models. TPUs use systolic array architecture optimized for matrix operations (the core of neural network computation). JAX and TensorFlow have native TPU support. TPU v5e and Trillium offer improved efficiency for both training and inference.
