LIME explains individual predictions by fitting a simple, interpretable model (linear regression, decision tree) in the local neighborhood of the prediction. It perturbs input features and observes output changes. LIME is model-agnostic (works with any classifier) and provides intuitive explanations. Limitations: instability (different runs produce different explanations) and difficulty with high-dimensional data.
